Things to do with dogs
Black Bull Caravan Park is very dog friendly – your holiday would feel incomplete without your four-legged friend here too! North Yorkshire is such a fantastic place to visit with dogs and is full of wonderful things to do that your pet can enjoy with you.
Of course, there are plenty of walks you can enjoy together in the stunning North York Moors National Park, but if you’re looking for an attraction to explore, we have lots of suggestions you might want to try!
Pickering Castle
Take a visit to the Norman remains of Pickering Castle with your pooch. As well as the historic buildings, there’s lots of grass for sniffing, and English Heritage members can visit for free.
Duncombe Park
There are many delights to be had in the beautiful market town of Helmsley, but we think Duncombe Park is one of the finest. The parkland is a fantastic place for a dog walk during your visit.
Dalby Forest
In the heart of the North York Moors National Park, you’ll find Dalby Forest. There are 8000 acres to explore with your four-legged friend, with a dedicated sculpture trail, Gruffalo orienteering course for the little ones, and it’s also a recognised dark sky discovery site.
Helmsley Walled Garden
Built in 1795, Helmsley Walled Garden is a beautiful spot that blends nature and history. You and your pet can enjoy their vibrant borders, see the plants bursting to life in the glasshouse, and explore the apple orchards.
Yorkshire Lavender Farm
The Yorkshire Lavender Farm is a real treat. Between May and August, you can wander their stunning lavender fields and taste their lavender inspired goodies in the café. If you’re travelling with children, there’s a fantastic playground too.
Sledmere House and Gardens
Sledmere House is a Grade I listed Georgian country house with beautiful gardens designed by Capability Brown. Dogs are welcome in many areas of the site, including the café, and there are lots of beautiful walks in the grounds to enjoy together. Their shop is also full of delicious treats for your dog!
